Commissions

The process of commissioning work is the same in all cases.

I will discuss your project with you and arrange for a site visit to discuss the design brief in more detail and to view the environment in which the piece will be placed. There is usually no charge for this, depending on location and time needed.

Having established your requirements I will draw up a design. This is done at an hourly rate. I will then present the design and get your feedback and make the amendments necessary. Once you are happy with the design a final constructional drawing will be completed and the job will be costed. This is often the most difficult part of the job and I would rather work for an hourly rate plus materials.

One-off work is difficult to price as it is impossible to foresee possible problems and additonal expenses. I know that most clients prefer a fixed price and I will give one where I think I can otherwise I work from an estimate.

Payment is usually an initial 50% on acceptance of the design and the balance on delivery/installation. On larger jobs, or where the materials make up a sizable proportion of the price, a slightly larger up front payment and/or stage payments will be required.

Upcycling

If you have something interesting with intrinsic or sentimental value that you would like modified or reused in a different way, call me.
